Arithmetic Sequence
A sequence of numbers in which the difference of consecutive terms is constant.
Geometric Sequence
A sequence of numbers where each term after the first is found by multiplying the previous term by a fixed, non-zero number called the common ratio.
Rate of Change
The change in the output value divided by the change in the input value, representing how a quantity changes over time.
Linear Function
A function in which the graph of the solutions forms a straight line.
Exponential Function
A function in which an independent variable appears in the exponent.
Expression for a_n
A mathematical representation that describes the nth term of a sequence.
Concave Up
A function is concave up if it curves upwards and the second derivative is positive.
Concave Down
A function is concave down if it curves downwards and the second derivative is negative.
Residual
The difference between the observed value and the predicted value.
Exponential Growth
An increase that occurs when the growth rate of a value is proportional to its current value.
Linear Regression
A method to model the relationship between a dependent variable and one or more independent variables using a linear equation.
Common Ratio
The factor by which each term of a geometric sequence is multiplied to obtain the next term.
Initial Value
The starting point or value of a function before any changes occur.
Bank Account Growth Formula
A formula representing how an account's balance increases over time with interest, often modeled by an exponential equation.
Model Validation
The process of checking if a mathematical model accurately represents a real-world scenario.
