What is Weather?
Weather is the day to day condition of the atmosphere at a specific place and a particular time.
Temperature
A measure of how hot or cold a place is, measured in degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit.
Rainfall
Movement of moisture from the atmosphere to the surface in liquid form, measured in millimeters or inches.
Atmospheric Pressure
The weight of the air pressing down on the earth’s surface, measured in millibars.
Humidity
The water content of the atmosphere, measured in grams of water vapour per kg.
Winds
Movement of air across the earth’s surface, characterized by speed and direction.
What is meant by Cloud Cover?
The amount of clouds covering the sky, measured in oktas.
Thermometer
An instrument used to measure temperature.
Hygrometer
An instrument used to measure humidity.
Barometer
An instrument used to measure atmospheric pressure.
Wind Vane
An instrument used to measure wind direction.
Anemometer
An instrument used to measure wind speed.
