What are the two types of closed systems?
Single closed circulatory system and double closed circulatory system
What type of closed system is the heart?
Double closed circulatory system
What are the two circulations in human heart?
Pulmonary and systemic
How does the blood move?
Blood in right hand side of heart has little oxygen. (DeOxygenated)
It travels to lungs and picks up the oxygen.
That blood then travels to left hand side of heart. (Oxygenated)
That blood goes to the rest of the body
Pros of double circulated system
Oxygenated and deoxygenated blood is kept seperate
Allows for specialisation of blood vessels
Each circuit of blood passes through capillaries once, this maintains fast flow and high pressure
