World System Theory

Core

classification of a country with wealth, high education levels, advanced technology, many resources, strong militaries, and powerful allies

Semi-periphery

classification of a country with qualities of both core and peripheral countries and in the process of industrializing

Periphery

classification of a country with less wealth, low education levels, poor technology, unstable government, and poor services

Sustainability

the use of natural resources such that they will be available in the future

Sustainable Development

development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs
