How can organisations prevent attacks?
-Regularly test the network to find and fix weaknesses
-Use passwords to prevent unauthorised people accessing
-Enforce user access levels to limit number of people with access to sensitive information

What is penetration testing and how is it used?
It is when an organisation employs specialists to simulate potential attacks on their networks, it is used to identify possible weaknesses in a networks’ security
What does physical protection protect?
It protects the network hardware from either intentional or unintentional damage
What are the examples of physical protection?
-Locks and passcodes to restrict access
-Surveillance equipment to deter intruders
What do passwords do and what should they be?
Prevent unauthorised users accessing the networks, they should be strong with many characters with a combination of numbers and special characters

They control which parts of the network can be accessed by a group of users

The manager who also have access to the most sensitive data
What is anti-malware software supposed to do?
Designed to find and stop malware from damaging an organisations network and the devices on the network and it is used to block unauthorised access
What is encryption?
It is data translated into a code which only someone with the correct key can access and it is essential to send data over a network securely
What is encrypted text called?
It is called cipher text whereas data not encrypted is called plain text
