Covalent Compounds
Compounds formed by the sharing of electrons between atoms.
Numeric Prefixes
Prefixes used in naming covalent compounds to indicate the number of atoms, such as mono-, di-, tri-, etc.
-ide Suffix
An ending used in the naming of binary compounds that indicates the second element in the compound.
Dinitrogen pentoxide
A covalent compound with the formula N₂O₅.
Carbon monoxide
A covalent compound with the formula CO.
Water
Common name for H₂O, a covalent compound.
Ammonia
Common name for NH₃, a covalent compound.
Methane
Common name for CH₄, a covalent compound.

A covalent compound with the formula C₂O.
