Speech Style
According to Joos (1976), speech style refers to the form of language that the speaker uses which is characterized by the degree of formality.
Intimate
is private and a non-public speech style that uses private vocabulary and includes nonverbal messages
Casual
is used among friends and acquaintances that do not require background information and is used when there are no social barriers to consider
Consultative
is used among people who do not share common experiences or meaning and is considered professional discourse
Frozen
is a formal style whose quality is static, ritualistic, and may even be archaic; includes prayers, pledges, and oaths
Formal
is used for only imparting information and does not allow interruption, gives importance to technical vocabulary and exact definitions
