Reurbanisation - Albert Dock
Merseyside Development Corporation established in 1981, following riots in the Toxteth area.
Projects like the Albert Dock, International Garden Festival
Albert Dock opened in 19th century, after WW2, unable to cope with modern shipping and was derelict in 1980. became one of the major projects. Apartments sold for high sums and were not available to local people, however arguably the spending power helped to regenerate the city
Reurbanisation- Liverpool ONE
Shopping, commercial and high class residential area of previously run down area of CBD
Plan called “Paradise Project” which was then turned into “Liverpool ONE”. This was a high profile project when Liverpool was selected to be European Capital Of Culture 2008
