Behaviour Modification
A technique based on principles of operant conditioning used to change or remove unwanted or undesirable behaviour.
Central Principle in behaviour modification
Behaviour that's positively reinforced is likely to be repeated, and behaviour that is ignored is likely to die out.
Three Stages Involved in Shaping
Specify the target, identify a simple behavior as a starting point, reinforce the starting response, and then reinforce closer approximations until the desired response occurs.
Programmed learning
It is an approach to self-instruction, with end-of-chapter quizzes with rapid frequent reinforcement of your learning by getting immediate feedback.
Token Economy Experiment
Dr. John Wolfe trained chimps to operate a slot-machine and automatically delivered a ripe grape every time a poker chip was inserted into the slot to get grapes.
Token Economy Programmes
Programs are used in residential care settings where people have to be looked after and they live in, in some kind of a residential care. Based on principles of secondary reinforcement, where they have to learn that a token can be exchanged for a primary reinforcer.
Biofeedback
You can watch a monitor and see your bodily functions on the monitor, and learn to control some of those bodily functions.
