What is the epididymis and its main function?
A male sex accessory duct that stores sperm for maturation and transports it to the vas deferens; connects testes to vas deferens.
What is the vas deferens?
Transports mature sperm from the epididymis to the urethra; long, muscular tube involved in ejaculation.
What is the urethra?
The hollow tube that lets urine leave the body; can become infected.
What do the seminal vesicles do?
Store and produce most of the fluid in semen; during ejaculation, this fluid mixes with sperm in the ejaculatory duct.
What is the role of the ejaculatory duct?
Delivers sperm into the urethra and adds secretions from the prostate; interfaces the reproductive and urinary systems.
What is the rectum described as in the notes?
Holding area for stool; pushes stool out through the anus when full.
What is the function of the bladder?
Stores urine before it leaves the body through the urethra.
What does the prostate contribute to semen?
Fluid that helps transport sperm; the urethra runs through the center of the prostate.
