1st weakness of the articles of confederation and result
There was no provision made for an executive or judicial branch. Only a unicameral congress was created.
Result: no one enforced the laws, and there were no courts to settle disputes
2nd weakness of the articles of confederation and result
Congress did not have the power to tax. The national gov’t could only request money from the states.
Result: congress never had enough money to run the gov’t
3rd weakness of the articles of confederation and result
the right to coin money was given to both the state and national gov’t
Result: paper money is worthless, and currency exchange is a nightmare.
4th weakness of the articles of confederation and result
Congress could not regulate trade between the states
Result: states taxed each other, trade was nearly impossible, and individual states made treaties with other nations
5th weakness of the Articles of Confederation and the result
each state only had one vote in congress
Result: larger states felt that they were mistreated
6th weakness of the Articles of Confederation and the result
To pass a new law, 9 of 13 states had to approve. To amend the Articles of Confederation, all 13 states had to approve
Result: laws were difficult to pass, and amendments impossible

Many farmers in western Massachusetts were losing their farms due to debt foreclosure. Daniel Shays led a band of rebels who closed and burned many courthouses.

The mount vernon conference was so successful that they delegates decided to invite all 13 states to this confrence in Maryland.
