do ghost or real images lie between the center of rotation and the receptor
real images
do ghost or real images lie between the source and the center of rotation
ghost image
in general, what description can be used to describe how and where a ghost image will appear
opposite of the ture location, higher up, blurred, and magnified
in general, what description can be used to describe how and where a double image will appear
will be similar in height and sharpness of the real object image
describe where zone 1 is in the focal trough and what will it appear as on a pano
the anterior part of the focal trough- real images only
describe where zone 2 is in the focal trough and what will it appear as on a pano
posterior part of the focal trough; real and ghost image
describe where zone 3 is in the focal trough and how it will appear as on a pano
in the center, posterior of the focal trough; will show double, real, and ghost images
what zone is this in of the focal trough? is it real or a ghost image or a double image
real image bc it is the only one- object is in zone 1
what zone is this in of the focal trough? is it real or a ghost image or a double image
two objects shown- the one on the pt L is the ghost and the one on pt R is real → object is in zone 2
what zone is this in of the focal trough? is it real or a ghost image or a double image
three objects seen- on pt R is real, on pt L is a double image, in center is the ghost image; object is in zone 3 closer to the medial (the R object is the sharpest so we can assume that is the side the object is closest to)
which is the ghost object and which the the real based on the arrows
white arrows are pointing to the ghost is the hard palate→ ghost is always higher (doesn’t always happen- depends on pt positioning)
what is happening here
orange: is the ghost image of yellow- mandible posterior border
blue arrows: ghost of #17 amalgam
what object is creating this ghost image
#16 wizzy- the tooth is sticking out of the focal trough so it can create this
what object is creating this ghost image
#1 crown- the jaw is very big so the tooth is probs out of the focal trough
what is going on here
red arrow is a ghost image of R earring, blue arrow is a ghost image of the L earring
dental structures are also overlapping → head is bent backwards
this is pointing to chewing gum, but how can we make sure that this is not something pathological or that it is not a ghost image
if you follow the line of the structure, it goes outside of the coronoid process so it is not even contained in the bone so we rule out pathological
the object is blurry but it is not horizontally streaking so it is not a ghost image
