Somatic Symptom Disorder
A mental disorder that manifests as physical symptoms suggesting illness or injury but cannot be explained fully by a general medical condition.
Conversion Disorder
A type of somatic disorder presenting with neurological symptoms not explained by a well-established organic cause, often traceable to a psychological trigger.
Factitious Disorder (FD)
A condition where a person acts as if they have an illness by deliberately producing, feigning, or exaggerating symptoms without a malingering motive.
Factitious Disorder Imposed on Self
Occurs when an individual feigns illness to experience being a patient for themselves.
Factitious Disorder Imposed on Another
Also known as Munchausen by proxy, this involves a person producing, feigning, or exaggerating symptoms of someone they are caring for.
