Crimper

“pinch” the connector onto a wire, connect the modular connector to the Ethernet cable

Cable stripper

remove the protective outer jacket or insulation from electrical wires and cables

Wi-Fi analyzer

shows frequencies/channels, signal strength, access points, interference, wireless devices

Toner probe

puts an analog sound on the wire, easy wire tracing, use to locate sound

Punchdown tool

trims the wires, can be tedious, organization is key, maintain twists

Cable testers

continuity test, simple wire map, can identify missing pins

Loopback plug

useful for testing physical ports, network connections, NOT cross-over cables

Network tap

intercept network traffic, send a copy to a packet capture device
