Adverbs
An adverb is a word that can modify or describe a verb, adjective, another adverb, or entire sentence.
Adverbs Of manner
An adverb of manner describes how you do an action. For example, They dress elegantly.
Adverbs of time
Adverbs of time tell us when an action happened, but also for how long, and how often. Ex: I saw that movie last year.
Adverbs of duration or frequency
An adverb of frequency describes how often an action happens. Ex: Does she play football often?
Active voice
In active voice, the subject performs the action of the verb: “The dog chased the cat”.
Passive voice
In passive voice, the subject receives the action of the verb: “The cat was chased by the dog”
Direct Object
A direct object is a word or phrase that receives the action of the verb. “The students eat cake” DO:cake
Causative form
We use causative when arranging for someone to do something for us.
Ex: I had my hair cut yesterday. (I went to the hairdresser)
Compare to: I cut my hair yesterday. (I cut it myself)
