System

A collection of components linked together as a single unit.

Component

A physical object or intangible concept within a system.

Environment

Anything outside of the system that surrounds it (surrounding the system).

Interface

The means of interaction between the environment and a system.

System Decomposition

The division of a system into its components and linkages.

Subsystem

A component that is part of a larger system.

System Architecture

The properties, relationships, and linkages among components and between the system and its environment.

Abstraction

A representation of a system, such as a model or drawing.

Business Organization Chart

A visual representation of the hierarchical structure of a business.

Business Application Architecture

The architecture of software applications used in a business.

IT System Architect

A person who designs a system to meet the needs of an organization.

Computer Systems

The hardware and operating systems of a computer (As basic as it gets, a computer, phone, tablet, etc.)

Application Architecture

The structure and design of software applications.

Data

Information or facts that are stored and used by a computer system.

Corporate Information System

An IT system used by a company to manage and store information.

Search Application Architecture

The architecture of a software application used for searching.

Metadata

"Data about other data" such as the author, date created, etc.
