Tropism
Directional growth or movement of a plant in response to an external stimulus
Phototropism
Growth/movement of a plant toward (positive) or away from (negative) a directional light source, typically blue light
Gravitropism
Innate ability of plants to grow in response to gravity, directing roots downward (positive) and shoots upward (negative)
Thigmotropism
Biological phenomenon where plants grow or move in response to physical contact or touch (positive is to, negative is away)
Heliotropism
Movement of plant parts to follow the sun's path maximizing light absorption for energy, warmth, and enhanced growth
Nastic Movements
Non-directional plant responses to stimuli that are usually rapid, reversible, and independent of the stimulus position (Kiley plant)
Seismonastic Movements
From touch/temperature/shaking
Sleep Movements
Daily movements, depend on light changes
