A species that has a huge impact on its ecosystem, even if it is not very abundant.
Indicator species
A species that shows the health of an ecosystem.
Invasive species
A non-native species that spreads quickly and harms the ecosystem
Native species.
A species that naturally lives in a certain area.
Succession
The process of an ecosystem changing over time.
Primary succession
Ecosystem starts from scratch (like after a volcano or glacier).
Secondary succession
Ecosystem recovers after a disturbance (like a fire).
Biomass
The total amount of living matter in an area.

When organisms compete for the same resources
