Proposed that all life forms are connected and related ( alive or dead ) to a common ancestor

Non-Dichotomous Splitting

Refers to when more than two lineages spilt from a single ancestral line

Dichotomous Splitting

Refers to when two of less lineages spilt from a single ancestral line

Homology

Similarity between species due to sharing a common ancestor

Analogy

Similarity between species due to convergent evolution

Monophyly

Refers to a group of species with a single common ancestor

Polyphyly

Refers to a group with more than one common ancestor present

Paraphyly

Refers to a group that doesn’t contain all the species descent from a common ancestor

Parsimonious

Less changes present within a tree to explain the evolutionary change
