Thesis Statement
The most important sentence in an essay that contains the main idea.
Controlling Idea
What you are going to say about the topic in your thesis statement.
Predictor
A part of the thesis statement that indicates how many body paragraphs there will be and/or what their content will be.
Introductory Paragraph
The first paragraph that aims to get the reader's attention and introduce the essay's subject.

Body Paragraph
A section of the essay that develops the main idea or argument and supports it with evidence.
Comparison Essay

An essay where the writer aims to persuade the audience about a controversial topic.
