B11 - Plant responses

Step 1

Pour fixed water volume in 3 petri dishes and add cotton wool then place 10 seeds in each petri dish

Step 2

Place petri dish in an incubator to allow time for seed germination

Step 3

Remove any excess seeds so petri dishes all have same seed amount if not all seeds have germinated

Step 4

• Place 1st petri dish in full sunlight by window

• Place 2nd petri dish in partial sunlight

• Place 3rd petri dish in complete dark

Step 5

Use ruler to measure height of each seedling every day for 1 week

Step 6

Find mean height of seedling each day and plot graph of mean height of seedling against day
