What is a prism
A prism is a triangular wedge shaped piece of glass and it can be used to alter the apparent location of an object.
How do prisms shift objects?
They shift objects to a different position away from the base, and towards the apex of a prism
What do thicker prisms equate to?
Thicker prisms equate to a stronger amount of correction and displace objects to a greater degree
What do thinner prisms equate to?
Thinner prisms have a weaker amount of correction and displace objects to a lesser degree
What is dispersion?
Dispersion is the separation of electromagnetic radiation into constituents of different wavelengths
Example of dispersion?
White light is made up of many different wavelengths of light. If you pass white light through a prism it will be split into its constituent colours This is called dispersion
