Hero

One who is challenged physically, mentally, or morally to achieve a goal — Protagonist — Harry Potter

Villain

one who opposes the hero — antagonist — Joker

Fair maiden

One who is sought after by the hero and the villain; the focus of any romance

Mentor/Guide

A wise elder or god who teaches, guides or helps the hero by offering advice — Mr Miyagi

Fairy Godmother

A surrogate mother figure who comforts, directs, helps, and guides those who are confused or stuck

Stepmother

A jealous, evil villain devoted to her biological children (if any)

Scapegoat/Martyr

One who gives up life or makes a sacrifice to save another person, a sacrificial figure — Mufasa

Servant

"Sidekick" or assistant who reinforces the personality of the hero

Innocent

Child, youth, or inexperienced adult who is out of their normal environment — Joy

Trickster

Wise fool, joker, and truth teller, usually in the form of a mythical animal - human; a two spirit creature, both deity and non-deity, Maui

Anti-Hero

A protagonist that does not follow traditional heroic ideals such as morality, idealism, and courage — Deadpool
