Noun
A word that identifies a person (e.g., teacher: "The teacher is kind."), place (e.g., school: "I go to school."), thing (e.g., book: "I read a book."), or idea (e.g., freedom: "Freedom is important.").
Verb
A word that expresses an action (e.g., run: "I run fast.") or state of being (e.g., is: "He is happy.").
Adjective
A word that describes a noun (e.g., red: "The car is red.", big: "That is a big dog.", beautiful: "She has a beautiful smile.").
Adverb
A word that modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb (e.g., quickly: "He runs quickly.", very: "She is very happy.", carefully: "Drive carefully.").
Pronoun
A word that replaces a noun or noun phrase (e.g., he: "He is tall.", she: "She is smart.", it: "It is raining.", they: "They are playing.").
Preposition

Conjunction
A word that connects words, phrases, or clauses (e.g., and: "I like cats and dogs.", but: "I am tired, but I will finish.", or: "Do you want tea or coffee?", so: "It was raining, so I took an umbrella.").
Interjection
A word that expresses strong emotion or surprise (e.g., Wow!: "Wow! That's amazing.", Ouch!: "Ouch! I hurt my knee.", Help!: "Help! I need assistance.").
Determiner
A word that introduces a noun and specifies quantity or identity (e.g., a, an, the, this, that). "This book is mine."
