What is the primary purpose of modulation in a communication system?

Our initial signal (non electronic) has very low frequency called baseband signal . We convert this into high frequency periodic signal called carrier signal . Now carrier signal has three properties amplitude , frequeny and phasor. ALtering any of these three to match with that of baseband signal is called modulation.

2
New cards

How does modulation help in reducing antenna height?

Modulation allows for the transmission of signals at higher frequencies, which can reduce the physical size of antennas.

3
New cards

What is one reason for the need for modulation related to hardware limitations?

To overcome hardware system limitations that may restrict the effective transmission of signals.

4
New cards

How does modulation help reduce interference and noise?

It allows for the transmission of signals at different frequencies, minimizing interference when signals are close in frequency.

5
New cards

What is the role of modulation in multiplexing signals?

Modulation enables the multiplexing of multiple signals over a single channel, allowing more efficient use of bandwidth.

Multiplexing is a technique of combining multiple signals into a single communication channel so that they caan be transmitted together and then later separated back at the receiver. It is done to efficiently use bandwith adn infrastructure

multiplexing = sending many signals together iver one medium efficiently.

6
New cards

Why is channel frequency assignment important in modulation?

Modulation facilitates the assignment of specific frequencies to channels, preventing overlap and interference between different signals.

7
New cards

How does modulation contribute to narrowing the bandwidth of a signal?

It allows for the compression of the signal's frequency range, making it more efficient for transmission.

8
New cards

In what way does modulation reduce the complexity of the transmission system?

By allowing signals to be transmitted at higher frequencies, modulation simplifies the design and operation of transmission equipment.

9
New cards

What effect does modulation have on the bandwidth of a signal?

Modulation can increase the bandwidth of the signal, allowing for the transmission of more information.
