Absolute Iron Deficiency Anemia
A type of anemia caused by a decrease in total body iron.
Functional Iron Deficiency Anemia
A condition where total body iron is adequate, but it cannot be mobilized quickly enough for needed erythropoiesis.
Macrocytic Anemia
Anemia characterized by larger than normal red blood cells.
Microcytic Anemia
Anemia characterized by smaller than normal red blood cells.
Normocytic Anemia
Anemia where the size of red blood cells is normal, but their quantity is reduced.
Erythrocyte Kinetics
The process involving the production and lifespan of red blood cells in the body.
Hemoglobin Concentration
A measure of the amount of hemoglobin in the blood, indicating its ability to carry oxygen.
Reticulocyte Count
A measure of the number of young red blood cells in the blood, indicating bone marrow activity.
Maturation Defects
Conditions that affect the normal development of red blood cells, leading to anemia.
Hypoproliferative Anemia
Anemia due to inadequate red blood cell production.
Hemolytic Anemia
Anemia caused by the rapid destruction of red blood cells.
Blood Loss Anemia
Anemia resulting from significant blood loss.
