Stratified

1. Divide population into groups

2. Randomly select members from each group

Ex: Randomly select 10 freshmen, 10 sophomores, 10 juniors, 10 seniorsto ensure representation from each subgroup.

Convenience

Select individuals who are easy to reach

Ex: telephone surveys, asking classmates

Self Selected

Individuals volunteer to be a part of a sample

Simple Random

1. Assign a numerical label to all individuals of the population

2. Randomly pick numbers

Ex: drawing names, random number generator

Systematic

1. Randomly select a beginning number

2. Select every nth person after

Ex: Selecting every 3rd student from a list or sequence.
