What are root hair cells and what are their function?
Specialised cells found on the surface of roots, adapted to absorb water and mineral ions from the soil. They increase the surface area of the roots to maximize the uptake of water and mineral ions.
What is the pathway of water through the root, stem and leaves?
soil -> root hair cells -> root cortex cells -> xylem -> mesophyll cells (evaporates into the air spaces in the mesophyll cells, then out the stomata)
