Third Person
Narration from "They", "He", or "She" perspective
Repetition
The deliberate resume of words or phrases for emphasis or effect
Anaphora
Repetition of a word or phrase at the beginning of successive clauses or sentences
Antithesis
Contrasting ideas presented in parallel grammatical structure
Asyndeton
The use of multiple conjunctions in close succession to emphasize abundance or intensity
Polysyndeton
The ommission of conjunctions between words, phrases or clauses to create a conscience or dramatic effect
Periodic Sentence
A sentence that withholds its main idea or independent clause until the end, creating suspense or emphasis
Cumulative Sentence
A sentence that begins with the main idea and then adds details or modifiers to expand it
Inverted Syntax
Reversing normal word order to emphasize an idea or maintain rhythm
Rhetorical Question
A question asked for effect, not to receive an answer. It encourages the reader to listener to reflect on a point
