Boredom Susceptibility
A tendency to dislike routine and become easily bored, leading to a need for change or stimulation.
Extrinsic Motivation
Motivation driven by external rewards or avoiding punishment.
Example: Studying for grades, money, or praise.
Thrill or Adventure Seeking
The desire to engage in exciting, risky, or physically challenging activities.
Example: Skydiving or roller coasters.
Disinhibition
A tendency to seek social stimulation and act impulsively, often without considering consequences.
Example: Partying, taking risks in social situations.
Instinct
An innate (inborn) pattern of behavior that all members of a species are born with.
Example: Babies sucking for food.
The idea that performance is best at moderate levels of arousal, and decreases when arousal is too low or too high.
Experience Seeking
The desire for new sensory or mental experiences, like travel, art, or music.
Intrinsic Motivation
Motivation driven by internal enjoyment or interest.
Example: Playing a game because you enjoy it.
