What are the properties of silk?

What is the process of sericulture?
production of cultivated silk. Start with larva hatching on piece of paper.
After 10 day period, feed 35 days for mulberry leaves. Then they reach 10x OG weight. They then spin silk cocoons. Then 16 days later they become moths.
What is cericin?
Water soluble protective gum that preserves the silk
What is spun silk?
Staple fibres spun into continuous yarns from any broken pieces of silk cocoon. Less strong and lustrous.
Silk noil:
de-gummed silk, cheaper, less durable, duller, fuzzier, etc. Made from shord leftover. Nubby, matte, casual garments.
