Reward vs. Cost:
We stay in relationships when rewards (love, support) are bigger than costs (fights, sacrifices).
Comparison Level (CL):
What we expect a relationship to be like. If our relationship is better than our expectation, we are happy.
Comparison Level for Alternatives (CLalt):
How good we think other options are. If other options seem better, we might leave.
Example:
If someone is unhappy in their relationship and sees another potential partner offering more love and happiness, they might end their current relationship because of a high CLalt.
