Titration
A technique to determine the concentration of a substance by reacting it with a solution of known concentration.
NaOH
Sodium hydroxide, the substance whose concentration is being determined in this experiment.
HCl
Hydrochloric acid, the titrant with a known concentration (0.10 mol/L) used to react with NaOH.
Buret
A piece of lab equipment used to accurately dispense variable amounts of a solution.
Erlenmeyer flask
A flask used to hold the solution being titrated.
Phenolphthalein
An indicator used to detect the endpoint of the titration by changing color (turning colorless).
Molarity (mol/L)
A unit of concentration expressing the moles of solute per liter of solution.
m/V%
A concentration unit expressing the mass of solute per volume of solution, as a percentage.
