Headaches
Pain often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound.
Risk Factors for Headaches
Modifiable factors include stress, strong smells, foods, bright lights, fatigue, caffeine, and weather changes; nonmodifiable factors include age, gender, and hormones.
Migraine Management
Involves abortive therapy with medications such as Floricet, NSAIDs, Triptans, and preventative therapy with Beta-blockers and CCBs.
Epilepsy
A neurological disorder characterized by recurrent seizures.
Status Epilepticus
A medical emergency defined by a seizure lasting over 5 minutes or multiple seizures occurring over 30 minutes.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
An autoimmune, inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system.
Cardinal Signs of Parkinson’s Disease
Bradykinesia, resting tremor, rigidity, and postural instability.
Ischemic Stroke
A type of stroke caused by an obstruction of blood flow to the brain.
Cataracts
Clouding of the lens in the eye leading to decreased light transmission and vision changes.
Glaucoma
A condition characterized by increased intraocular pressure, which can damage the optic nerve.
Macular Degeneration
A condition affecting central vision, often due to aging and characterized by yellow deposits in the retina.
Meniere’s Disease
A disorder of the inner ear causing vertigo, tinnitus, hearing loss, and nausea.
