Eclipse Ball

Eclipse ball is a fast-paced game that utilizes both

tennis and volleyball skills.

A point is awarded on every serve. Games are played to 21 points. The first team to reach 21 points is the winner.

Service lines are the blue line on west side and white line on east side of the gym.

If a player steps on or over the line, it is a foot fault and results in a point for the opposing team.

how many hits does a Team have to a side to successfully get the ball over the net. A person may not contact the ball 2 times in a row.

A net serve is illegal and will result in a point for the opposing team. Balls may, however, hit the net legally during a

rally.

No sets or two-handed hits are allowed. Forearm passes are

legal.

If a player comes into contact with the net with any part of their body during a rally, a point is awarded to the

opposing team.

Teams are allowed one bounce per side. It can occur before the first hit, or in between either the

second or third hit.

The ball may contact the ceiling during a rally as long as it stays on the same side of the net and is played legally by the team. If the ball contacts the ceiling on the serve or a rally and it falls to the opposing team’s side of the net, a point is awarded to the

opposing team.

Balls sent over the net must come directly from a player. In other words, teams can’t have it bounce on their side right before going over the net on their

final hit.

If a person is hit in the body on an opponent’s hit, it may continue to be played (Purposely kicking or heading a ball is not legal.)

Balls that land on the line are “in” and those that hit the standard are

“out”.

If a served or played ball crosses the net and lands directly out of bounds it is a “dead” ball and a point is awarded to the appropriate team, even if the other team

plays it.

The two tournaments we played in class were
