VFR
Visual Flight Rules; regulations under which a pilot operates an aircraft in weather conditions generally clear enough to allow the pilot to see where the aircraft is going.
Hub
A central point of departure or arrival in air traffic networks.
Critical Angle of Attack
The angle of attack at which airflow separates from the wing, leading to a stall.
Stall
Loss of lift and increase in drag that happens when an aircraft is flown at an angle of attack greater than the critical angle of attack.
Hazel Check
A pre-flight checklist acronym: Height, Area, Security, Engine, Look-out.
Power Off Stall
A type of stall that occurs when the engine power is at idle.
Power On Stall
A stall that occurs when the aircraft is climbing and engine power is applied.
Incipient Stage
The initial phase of a spin when a wing begins to drop and the stall has just started.
Fully Developed Stage
The stage in a spin when the aircraft has fully entered the spin and is rolling with significant yaw.
Center of Gravity
The point at which the weight of an aircraft is balanced. An incorrect center of gravity can affect stall performance.
Thrust-to-Weight Ratio
The relationship between the engine power produced and the weight of the aircraft; important for understanding performance in various flight conditions.
