Strengths & Weakness
Strengths: Consistent & Good at reading people. Weakness: Impatient when a process moves slower than I think it should
Describe yourself in 3 words
Consistent- I treat everyone I supervise by the same standard, Direct- people respect honesty more than someone who dances around the truth, Invested -I genuinely care whether someone actually changes, not just complies. Compliance without change does not make the community safer long term
Mistake/Criticism
Non reported exclusion zone. Victim called the ASA. The ASA called me. Supervisor got mad. I did not become defensive I own it and adjust. If i disagree I say so respectfully. Critism is usually information and information makes you better at your job.
Formula for every pressure answer
Name the approach first. I focus on what needs immediate attention, document as I go, and loop in my supervisor.
Key Messages to hit no matter what example I use:
Stayed calm and did not react emotionally
I prioritized - Safety and court deadlines come first
Documented as I went
Looped in supervisor - not be a hero alone
Have you ever witnesses misconduct?
I have not witnessed serious misconduct but I have seen my team take shortcuts that concerned me. I had a direct private conversation with them about what I observed and had them explain. Integrity in this job is just not what you do yourself - credibility of the office depends on everyone in it.
Have you ever bent the rules?
No - and I want to be honest - there have been situations where I felt for someone and wanted to give them more room. But I have seen what happens when officers start making those calls. It creates inconsistency. My job is to report the full picture and leave the rest up to the judge.
Why Federal/Northern District
The cases are more complex and this is what I want. The districts mission - safer community through objective analysis, balancing needs against risk- not just a statement to me. that is how I already think about this work. I applied here because this is where I want to build my career.
What would your current supervisor say about me?
Reliable - takes work seriously. Does not need to be micromanaged.
Biggest professional failure?
I invested alot of time into a defendant I believed was on the right track. They violated significantly. I second guessed myself, did I miss something- was I too optimistic? What I learned is you cannot control the outcomes, only the quality of your supervision. I did everything correctly. The defendant made their own choice.
