RER

Continuous folds of membrane linked with the nuclear envelope Rough surface

SER

Smoother surface, outer section of ER

Golgi body

Can be distinguished from ER as it is not connected to other membrane-bound compartments and has a 'wifi-symbol' appearance

Mitochondria

Relatively large organelles surrounded by double-membrane Smaller than nucleus and chloroplasts but can be seen with a light microscope

Chloroplasts

Larger than mitochondria, contain grana, surrounded by double membrane
