what is a chemical formula?
indicates the elements present in the compound and the relative number of atoms or ions of each
in what order to elements go in a chemical formula?

what is an empirical formula?
lowest whole number ratio of compound, a relative number

actual number of atoms of each element in a molecule of a compound

what is a structural formula?
uses lines to represent covalent bonds and shows how atoms in a molecule are connected/bonded to each other--can also indicate a sense of the molecule's geometry

noble gases, they have full outer shells which means they have met the expectations of the octet rule (8 valence electrons in the outermost shell)
what does the lewis model represent?
valence electrons as dots to depict molecules
