Rule 1
Nitrates (NO3-), chlorates (ClO3-), and acetates (C2H3O2-): ALL soluble, no exceptions.
Rule 2
Alkali metal ions (Li+, Na+, K+, Rb+, Cs+) and ammonium (NH4+): ALL soluble, no exceptions.
Rule 3
Chlorides, bromides, iodides: soluble EXCEPT Pb2+, Hg22+, Ag+, Cu+.
Rule 4
Sulfates and sulfites: soluble EXCEPT Ca2+, Ba2+, Sr2+, Pb2+, Ag+, Hg22+.
Rule 5
Sulfides (S2-): soluble ONLY with Group IA, IIA, and NH4+. All others insoluble.
Rule 6
Hydroxides, oxides, phosphates, carbonates, oxalates, silicates, chromates: soluble ONLY with alkali metals and NH4+. All others INSOLUBLE.
