Volume
Measurement of how much space an object occupies, commonly expressed in liters, milliliters, or gallons.
Density
The ratio of mass to volume of a substance, with water having a density of 1.0 g/cm³.
Dimensional Analysis
A method for converting units by multiplying both numbers and their units.
Macromolecules
Large molecules including proteins, carbohydrates, and fats.
Amino Acid
Organic compounds that serve as the building blocks of proteins and contain an amino group, a carboxylic acid group, and a side chain (R group).
Peptide Bond
The bond formed between two amino acids during a dehydration reaction.
Hydrolysis
The process of breaking bonds by adding water.
Dehydration
The process of forming bonds by removing water.
Essential Amino Acids
Amino acids that must be obtained through diet as the body cannot synthesize them.
