Symbol
An object, person, or place that represents a deeper meaning beyond its literal meaning.
genre
The category or type of literature, such as horror, romance, science fiction, or mystery.
Allegory
A story in which characters and events represent deeper meanings, often about morals, politics, or society.
Foreshadowing
Hints or clues that suggest what will happen later in the story.
Point of View
The perspective from which the story is told (first person, second person, or third person).
protagonist
The main character in the story, usually the one facing the main conflict.

A simple character with only one or two traits and little detail.
Static character
A character who does not change during the story.
Direct characterization
When the author directly tells the reader what a character is like.
Indirect characterization
When the reader learns about a character through actions, speech, thoughts, or how others react to them.
Round Character
A complex character with many traits, like a real person.
Dynamic Character
A character who changes or grows during the story.
