Types of Data

Quantitative data

Numerical data representing how much, how long, or how many of something, such as reaction time or number of mistakes.

Qualitative data

Non-numerical information that can be observed and recorded, in the form of written or verbal communication.

Primary data

First-hand data collected specifically for the investigation at hand.

Secondary data

Information collected by someone other than the researcher, often sourced from journals, books, or articles.
