Alliteration
The repetition of the same initial consonant sounds in a sequence of words.
Assonance
The repetition of vowel sounds in nearby words.
Figurative language
Language that uses figures of speech to be more effective, persuasive, and impactful.
Flashback
A literary device that revisits a past event to provide background or context.
Foreshadowing
A literary device used to give hints about what will happen later in the story.
Hyperbole
Exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally.
Imagery
Descriptive language that appeals to the senses and paints a picture in the reader's mind.
Metaphor
A figure of speech that makes a comparison between two unrelated things by stating one is the other.
Mood
The emotional atmosphere created by a piece of literary work.
Onomatopoeia
Words that imitate the sound they describe.
Personification
Attributing human qualities or characteristics to non-human entities.
Repetition
The act of repeating words or phrases to create emphasis.
Rhyme
The correspondence of sounds between different words, especially at the end of lines.
Setting

Simile

Stanza

Theme

Tone
