What are sand dunes?
Hills or ridges of sand that are piled up by the wind

Wind blows dry sand from the beach inland and it gets trapped in plants or debris and overtime sand dunes form
What are salt marshes?
A dynamic sheltered coastal wetlands that are flooded by tides
What are salt marshes characterised by?
Fine silt, mud, salt-tolerant plants and creek systems
Where do salt marshes form?
In low energy environments where sediment accumulates
How do salt marshes form?
Slow moving water allows fine sediment to settle to create mudflats meaning more sediment builds up in land
How are spits formed?
