Where does the line separating the UK into upland and lowland areas stretch?
The Tees-Exe line stretches from the mouth of the River Tees to the mouth of the River Exe.
What are upland areas?
A cooler, mountainous landscape, often with higher elevations and hard rock types.
Where are upland areas found?
North and West of the UK
Why do upland areas generally have harder rock types?
Harder rock types → more resistant → less erosion or weathering → higher landscape
What are lowland areas?
Flat warmer land that is at or not much higher than sea level, often more fertile with softer rock types.

Soft rock types → more easily eroded → lower landscapes

A landscape before humans alter it- made up of landforms such as mountains, hills, pains and plateaus along with lakes, streams, soil and natural vegetation.

A landscape that has been modified by people through animals, plants and structures.
