What is Newton’s First Law?
If the resultant force acting on an object is zero, the object will remain at rest or continue to move at a constant velocity.
What does constant velocity mean?
The object moves at a constant speed in a straight line.
What happens to an object if the resultant force acting on it is not zero?
The object will accelerate.
What is Newton’s Second Law?
The acceleration of an object is proportional to the resultant force acting on it and inversely proportional to its mass.
What equation links force, mass and acceleration?
Force = mass × acceleration
What units are used for force, mass and acceleration?
Force is measured in newtons (N), mass in kilograms (kg) and acceleration in metres per second squared (m/s²).
