Fungal Infection

Cause: Warm, moist environments with little to no ventilation.

Symptom: Pain, scaly rash, blisters, swelling

Treatment: Antifungal Meds

Chicken Pox and Shingles

Cause: Airborne/contact with Varicella-Zoster virus

Symptoms: Fever, fatigue, lass of appetite, headache, papules, blisters that pop, scabs, burning, honey-like crust

Treatments: Medication, lotion, vaccines

Cold Sores

Causes: Contact, stress, illness, injury, sun exposure

Symptoms: Tingling, burning, itching, swelling, pain, small blisters

Treatments: Medications

Warts

Cause: Human Papilloma Virus

Symptoms: Domed/flat fleshy growths with discomfort

Treatments: Salicylic acid, cryotherapy, chemical peels

Impetigo

Cause: Bacteria through open wound

Symptom: skin lesions around face, mouth, hands, nose and feet with honey crust

Treatment: Antibiotics

Cellulitis

Cause: Bacterial Infection

Symptom: warm and red swollen skin, blisters or pits

Treatment: Antibiotics/good hygiene

Dermatitis

Cause: Contact causing irritation/allergy, infection, stress, genetics

Symptom: Itchy, dry skin, swollen rash, blister, thick skin, dandruff, small bumps

Treatment: Prescription cream, injections, meds, and light exposure

Psoriasis

Cause: Unknown, genetics, stress, infections, weather

Symptom: Red, raised skin plaques, cracked, intense itch, pain, hair loss, discoloration of nails

Treatment: topical creams/medications

Acne

Cause: Excess oil, clogged pores, bacteria, hormones, diet, puberty

Symptom: Pimples, papules, scarring, cysts, lesions

Treatment: Medications, creams, cleansing, healthy diet

Boil/Carbuncle

Cause: Skin infection in hair follicles

Symptom: Swollen/painful lump under skin

Treatment: Drained with prescription antibiotics

Decubitus Ulcer (Bed sore)

Cause: Prolonged pressure suffocates cells

Symptoms: redness, swelling, pain, blistering, warm or cold

Treatment: pressure cushions, removal of dead tissues, antibiotics

1st Degree Burn

Cause: UV rays, electric shock, chemicals, hot liquids/objects

Symptom: Redness, dry skin, peeling

Treatment: run cold water on it, moisturize, bandage

2nd Degree Burn

Cause: UV radiation, chemicals, electric shock, hot liquids/objects, friction

Symptom: redness, blisters, shiny/moist skin, swelling peeling

Treatment: cool with water, antibiotics, bandages

3rd Degree Burn

Cause: heat, sunburn, chemicals, radiation, dry ice, electricity

Symptom: dry and leathery skin, odd colored skin, swelling, no pain

Treatment: debriding, early cleaning

Basal Cell Carcinoma

Most common and least deadly skin cancer. On skin and neck. Has a pearly/waxy open sore.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Found on skin, mouth, digestive tract, and top layer of skin. Slow, but a little more aggressive.

Melanoma

Mole that changes in asymmetry, border, color, size. Deadliest cancer.
