historians believe that protestantism was an inspiration for capitalism

martin luther

a german monk who was originally going to be a lawyer, but encountered a storm and promised to become a monk if he was saved. he was, and he wrote the 95 theses, and led the protestant movement (reformation). he was against tetzel and the selling of indulgences, and started lutheranism (denomination of protestantism).
