Laissez-faire Leadership

Managers delegate almost all decisions, staff given wide boundaries.

• Useful in crises.
• Improved productivity.

Disadvantages of Autocratic Leadership

• Demotivating for staff.
• Can lead to errors if leader is wrong.
• Doesn't utilise worker skills.

Advantages of Democratic Leadership

• Can improve motivation through participation.
• Help develop worker skills.

Disadvantages of Democratic Leadership

• Slower decision making.
• Not useful in crisis.
• Input may be irrelevant.

• Staff feel cared for.
